Best way to tour PEI

Our guide was Ron, who has an educational background, gave us an interesting and educational tour of many of the sites of Prince Edward Island. We learned about the fishing industry, enjoyed the beauty of the countryside and stopped by a local eatery for lunch. We opted not to tour Ann of Green Gables but we drove by and Ron gave us a good account of why this is a popular stop. With limited time, this was definitely the best way to see the island. Make sure you stop for ice cream at Cow’s Ice Cream shop. Rusty Rover Tours did a great job of communicating and setting up our tour ahead of arrival. Highly recommend!

PEI with Rusty with some ever lasting memories

PEI is a beautiful island and you can feel the charm the moment you get in there. And for us it was even more charming and beautiful because of Irwin. He was right there to pick us up from the airport. We had planned for an Island tour with him the next day but we ended up going around the island for the next two days. The first day he came to pick us up from where we are having our breakfast in downtown and showed us around the historic downtown before proceeding to see the Confederation Bridge. Irwin is a fountain of knowledge and history about the island. Along with the beautiful scenery of the rolling mountains and the picturesque towns, Irwin’s insights and engaging conversations made the entire experience very immersive. The next day we went to the North Shore and the Green Gables. Despite bad weather, Irwin took us to little known places/spots that one would generally not bother much. The tours on both the days were customized for us by Irwin based on our interest and time.

So if you really want to experience the rich history, the culture and the beauty / the hidden gems in the island, I would say don’t look further, Irwin will take to a journey that you will cherish for a long time.

Off the Beaten Path–a wonderful tour

My wife and I had the pleasure of booking a tour with Rusty Rover Tours and being guided by Irwin and Joan Judson on June 26th. Irwin communicated with us prior to our tour, we were picked up as planned from our ship and we proceeded with our tour. Irwin and Joan are a fountain of local knowledge and history. We found them to be friendly and gregarious. We saw parts of The Island that we otherwise wouldn’t have seen. The highlights of the trip were the stop at the Belfast Mini Mills and the restaurant at Point Prim where we had lunch. We will certainly use this company again when we return to Charlottetown, PEI.

Our family of 8 people had the most fantastic day with Irwin, otherwise known as Rusty Rover Tours. He is a native of PEI and knows so much about the history and life on the island. We all had a great time with him, and he really knows where to go to get the best lunch on the island.

Had a great time with Rusty Rover Tours. They drove me to all the major tourist attractions in PEI. Saw beautiful sunsets off Cavendish Beach. The tour operator was friendly and informative. I had a fantastic private tour of PEI with Rusty Rover Tours.

My wife arranged all the travel details through our local travel agent. How they got to Rusty I have no idea, BUT the 7 hours spent with the owner and his wife were the most delightful day in our 2 week trip to the Maritimes. Really comfortable van with amplified sons so we could hear every word. We traveled at the pace we chose and saw the usual PEI sights plus visits and insights into local areas we would never have found any other way. Our tour was like visiting with a local family as we asked questions about what is was like growing up on the island 50 years ago

Great Tour. Great hosts!

“I just wanted to say thank you  for your wonderful and very informative tour of PEI. The island is very beautiful and tranquil.  You are very lucky to live there.  I also wanted to thank you very much for taking the time to find out where I could buy jam from the PEI Preserve Co.  I bought the Strawberry Grand Marnier and the Raspberry Champagne. Wow! Delicious!  I just wanted to let you know you should be promoting the Gahan House Brewery.  I brought a couple of bottles of beer home for my husband and it was great!! Another reason to move to PEI 🙂  I had a wonderful time on The Island and will definitely go back with my family.”

My first interaction with Rusty Rover was via the phone where I spoke with Irwin who is the owner and primary driver/tour guide and I immediately had a good feeling that this tour was going to be a great adventure and that these guys really care about their customer’s experience with them.  I can honestly say that I was not let down as every aspect of the tour was thought of right down to the cool drinks in the van, plenty of stops for washroom and snack breaks.  This was customer service excellence.  Highly recommend this tour company if you are looking for a deluxe experience at a great price.  Great job Irwin.”

“I had a wonderful and memorable time in PEI.  Your tour was an excellent way to experience as much of PEI as possible in the short time that was available.  I often think of PEI, how beautiful it is and the great seafood.”

“The driver was Irwin.  The tour was supposed to be four hours but we agreed to five.  He was a good guide.  He spoke very good English and knew a lot about the island. We saw the House of Green Gables, the bridge, and a lot of the countryside.”

“Your visit with your guests yesterday sure brightened an otherwise damp cold day at our market. What a great romantic story – (your clients’) engagement in the muddy tulip field. We always look forward to Rusty Rover’s van driving in!”

“I can’t thank you both enough the tour was great! You were both so kind and we loved going to the farmers market as well! What a day indeed!! I would recommend your tour to anyone who comes to the island.  Thank you again for everything!”
